They thought they could get away with charging me $5.97 for a light bulb for 3rd brake light and $9.95 labor to install it. They just said they replaced it and it passed and gave me the total bill.

It wasn't until I was standing there did I see the actual charges. that mechanic must make $597 an hour by my calculations.

Pretty crappy tactic.

Also a girl was there who paid $40 to have her oil changed!

I do all my own work and this seems cray expensive.

No because I told them to get fucked and changed them right then and there (I carry spare bulbs in the truck)

This is why people hate inspection. At least my state in emissions-only; if the CEL isn't on, you usually pass.

There's a place around here that my GF swore by. Charges $80 for a full synth oil change.
